The Story of the North Shore Forest

White pine once was common in most of Minnesota’s North Shore forests, but their numbers have fallen dramatically. Sugarloaf: The North Shore Stewardship Association, The North Shore Forest Collaborative and University of Minnesota Extension have worked with landowners along the North Shore of Lake Superior for more than a decade to restore white pine and other long lived conifers.
