Where better to take the Northwoods-Great Lakes Master Naturalist course than right on the shores of Lake Superior at Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center? Join Sugarloaf naturalist Margie Menzies at Sugarloaf Cove as she teaches another Master Naturalist course.

This 40-hour hands-on course program was developed through the University of Minnesota Extension Service to educate adults about Minnesota’s natural resources, empowers them to teach others and provides opportunities to participate in conservation projects.

You will learn about the fascinating geology, plant and animal communities, inland lakes and bogs, ecology and human interactions of the Northwoods, as well as Lake Superior in this course. There will be guest speakers and unique experiences in a beautiful location. Travel through the transition from the ice and snow of winter into the greening spring in the Northwoods on Lake Superior!

The course will run from 9 am to 5 pm every other Saturday (with a bit wider gap over Easter Weekend) for 6 sessions beginning February 23 and ending May 4, 2018. Field trips will be incorporated into the scheduled class days. A capstone project is expected of participants, as well as the commitment to volunteer for 40 hours during the year.

Visit Minnesota Master Naturalist to register.

The course cost is $275 and includes course manuals and materials. Scholarships are available.
