It’s a nice hike into the Lutsen Scientific and Natural Area as well as a great place to explore. How can you tell one fern from another while hiking on the North Shore? This is an amazing place to figure this out as well as see a variety of early summer wildflowers, and hear the unique mix of birds that inhabit this beautiful ridge maple forest. It takes about half an hour to hike into the SNA, but it’s well worth the trip! Meet in the Parking lot at the Mountaintop Inn on the Lutsen Ski Hill Road at 10:00 am. Plan to wear hiking boots or good walking shoes, and bring water, snacks and a pair of binoculars if you have them. You should also be prepared for tick season with long pants and long socks that you can wear over your pant legs. Adventures await!
