Visit Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center for the launch of our latest partnership with writer and public artist Diver Van Avery. Van Avery has partnered with musicians A.P. Looze, Peter Morrow, and Crystal Myslajek to create a site-specific audio and music story walk that unfolds along one of our nature trails. Bring your own headphones and download the story onto your own device or check out headphones and listening devices at our visitor center to experience “The Seeker: A story of belonging to all of time” is about a person overwhelmed by the great grief of our times and their own personal grief after their father’s death. Through listening to the music and feeling held by the restoring woods of Sugarloaf Cove and the expansive water of Gitchi Gumi they are able to release and remember. Visitors can come experience the project at Sugarloaf Cove Nature Center through the end of October.

Diver Van Avery is a fiscal year 2023 recipient of a Creative Support for Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board and a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
